Weekend Emergency Dentist: Saturday and Sunday
If you have a tooth emergency on a Saturday or Sunday, call (310) 926-6825. Our phone is answered 24/7, including nights, weekends and holidays, and our office sees patients on Saturday and Sunday when it’s needed. We’ll tell you what to do right now and get you scheduled. How soon you’re seen depends on how severe it is.
What to do right now
These first steps come from the American Dental Association. Do them while you call.
- Toothache: rinse your mouth with warm water and floss gently to remove any food caught between the teeth. Don’t put aspirin on the tooth or gum.
- Cracked or broken tooth: rinse with warm water right away and hold a cold compress on your face to keep swelling down.
- Knocked-out adult tooth: don’t touch the root, and keep the tooth moist in milk or between your cheek and gum. Get to a dentist right away.
- Bitten lip or tongue: clean it gently with water and use a cold compress.
- Something stuck between your teeth: try to remove it gently with floss. Don’t use anything sharp or pointed.
Do you see patients on weekends?
Yes. Our office sees patients on Saturday and Sunday when it’s needed, and the way in is a phone call. Someone answers every day of the week, asks what happened, and tells you what to do while you wait.
How soon you’re seen depends on how severe it is. Tell us everything when you call, including any fever or swelling, so we can judge how urgent it is.
Call us this weekend if
Call us right away if:
- A permanent tooth was knocked out or pushed out of place
- You have severe, throbbing tooth pain that won’t settle
- Your gum, cheek or face is swelling
- A tooth cracked or broke, especially if it hurts or has a sharp edge
- A crown or filling came off and the tooth hurts
Not sure it counts? Call anyway. That is what the weekend line is for.
When to go to the ER instead
Go to a hospital emergency room, or call 911, if you have:
- Trouble breathing or swallowing
- A fever and swelling in your face, and you can’t reach a dentist
- A jaw you think might be broken or dislocated
Swelling with trouble breathing or swallowing can mean a tooth infection has spread into the jaw, throat or neck. A broken or dislocated jaw needs medical attention right away. Don’t wait for a dental appointment for any of these. For a tooth problem without these signs, call us first.
Can it wait until Monday?
That depends on what happened, and it’s a question to ask on the phone rather than guess at. Describe the problem when you call, and we’ll tell you what to do right now and get you scheduled.
Signs of an infection should not wait. See a dentist promptly for a tooth that throbs, a swollen face or gum, or a fever. A tooth abscess won’t go away without treatment, and if it bursts the pain may improve a lot, but you still need dental treatment. A sudden bad taste followed by relief is not a reason to cancel. Call and tell us what happened.
A call to this emergency dentist in Redondo Beach is answered on Saturday and Sunday, so if you’re unsure, call and describe it.
What happens at a weekend visit
Our dentist examines the tooth, usually takes an X-ray, finds the cause of the problem, and explains the options before starting anything.
Bring a list of any medicines you take, and any piece of tooth, crown or filling that came out.
How much does a weekend emergency visit cost?
It depends on what the tooth needs, from a quick repair to a root canal or an extraction. Our dentist will explain the plan before treatment starts.
- Insurance: we accept PPO plans, including Aetna, Assurant, Cigna, Delta Dental, Guardian Direct, Humana and MetLife.
- Payment: cash, check, credit and debit cards, plus financing through Cherry, CareCredit and LendingClub.
- No insurance: ask about our in-office dental plan.
